Site-Ready Ground for Your Next Commercial Project
Whether you are preparing a commercial subdivision, an industrial pad, a civil works corridor or a large-scale development, every successful build starts with clean, level, properly cleared ground. Hillcrest Excavations delivers professional commercial land clearing services throughout Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Hawkesbury and the Central West. We combine modern, all-terrain machinery with deep local knowledge of NSW soils, terrain and regulations to hand you a site that is level, stable and ready for construction, on time and to your program.
Developers, builders, civil contractors and project managers choose us because we understand what is at stake on a commercial site: tight deadlines, compliance obligations and budgets that do not have room for surprises. From the first council-compliant assessment to the final site handover, we handle the heavy lifting so your project keeps moving.
Why Choose Hillcrest for Commercial Land Clearing?
Commercial land clearing in New South Wales involves far more than tree removal. It requires the right machinery for the scale of the job, compliance with council and state regulations, careful management of soil types from Sydney sandstone to Blue Mountains shale, and a clear plan that keeps your construction program on track.
- Scale and Power: Our fleet ranges from 2-tonne excavators for tight, confined access through to 30-tonne machines fitted with specialised forestry mulchers for large-scale and bulk site clearing. We match the equipment to the site, not the other way around.
- Commercial Experience: We clear subdivisions, industrial lots, retail and warehouse pads, agricultural holdings and civil infrastructure corridors. We are trusted by the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and Roads & Maritime Services (RMS), and we are a certified contractor with Blue Mountains City Council.
- Council and Compliance: We work to the State Environmental Planning Policy (SEPP), the Biodiversity Conservation Act and the 10/50 Bushfire Clearing Code, so your project meets every legal requirement and avoids costly delays.
- Eco-Conscious Disposal: We prioritise forestry mulching and on-site recycling of green waste to cut landfill costs, reduce your environmental footprint and keep haulage to a minimum.
- Safety First: We are fully licensed and insured and operate under strict WHS protocols to protect your site, your people and our team.
- Transparent Pricing: You get a clear, fixed-price quote and straight answers, with no hidden costs once we are on the ground.
Our Commercial Land Clearing Services
- Commercial and Industrial Site Preparation: We clear and prepare commercial and industrial sites of all sizes, removing trees, shrubs, stumps and debris, then stabilising soil and levelling the ground to your engineer’s or architect’s specifications, ready for the next trade.
- Subdivision and Development Clearing: Bringing a subdivision or development to life starts with the land. We clear lots, define boundaries, open up access and turn raw or overgrown ground into productive, build-ready space.
- Civil and Infrastructure Clearing: We clear corridors for roads, access tracks, fire trails and services, working systematically so civil works can begin without hold-ups.
- Forestry Mulching: Our forestry mulching service clears land quickly and cost-effectively by grinding vegetation into nutrient-rich mulch on site. It is ideal for large-scale clearing, fire trails and rugged Blue Mountains terrain where haulage is impractical.
- Bushfire Hazard Reduction and Asset Protection Zones (APZ): We work with developers and property owners to establish compliant Asset Protection Zones, reducing fuel loads and creating strategic breaks to safeguard buildings and assets in bushfire-prone areas.
- Vegetation Management and Precision Tree Removal: Removing trees close to existing infrastructure takes skill and the right equipment. We handle ongoing vegetation management and challenging, precision tree removal safely and cleanly.
- Acreage, Rural and Residential Clearing: Alongside our commercial work, we clear acreage and rural holdings in the Hawkesbury and Central West and prepare residential blocks of all sizes, from reclaiming overgrown paddocks to grinding stumps on a suburban lot.
Our Site Clearing Process
- 01. Site Assessment: Every site is different. We visit your property to assess vegetation density, terrain, soil and access, whether you are on a suburban street, an industrial estate or a remote rural block, then plan the clearing around your construction program.
- 02. Strategy and Fixed-Price Quote: We provide a transparent, fixed-price quote and advise on the best method, whether that is total removal, on-site mulching or staged clearing, to give you the best value for your budget.
- 03. Expert Execution: Our skilled operators arrive with the right machinery for the job and work systematically to clear the site while protecting any trees marked for retention and any sensitive environmental areas.
- 04. Site Handover: We do not just clear and leave. We make sure the site is tidy, waste is managed and the ground is prepared for the next phase of your development.

Commercial Land Clearing FAQs
We plan clearing around your build schedule and can stage works across larger sites so other trades are not held up. Talk to us early and we will map the clearing to your program.
Our fleet scales from 2-tonne machines for tight access up to 30-tonne excavators with forestry mulchers for bulk clearing, so we can take on everything from a single commercial lot to a full subdivision.
We are fully licensed and insured and work under strict WHS protocols. We are a certified contractor with Blue Mountains City Council and are trusted by the RFS and RMS. We are happy to provide our documentation for your site requirements.
For most sites we require a minimum access width of 2.5 to 3 metres for our medium excavators. For tighter or restricted sites we have specialised access machinery that can fit through gaps as narrow as 1.1 metres.
Before any ground-disturbing work begins, we request existing service diagrams and confirm anything not captured in a Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) search. This lets us map utility lines, including stormwater, sewer, water, gas, electricity and fibre, so our clearing and root removal do not interfere with essential infrastructure.
Light rain usually does not stop us, but heavy downpours can cause soil instability and erosion. In extreme weather we may reschedule to avoid rutting or damage to the subsoil, and we will keep you informed throughout.
We regularly work around significant trees and landscaping features, using physical barriers and exclusion zones to protect the Root Protection Zones (RPZ) of retained trees so heavy machinery does not compact soil or damage bark.
We are mindful of the communities and businesses we work near. We adhere to local council noise ordinances on operating hours and, on dry or windy days, can apply dust suppression to minimise the impact on surrounding properties.
In NSW, many native species and Endangered Ecological Communities (EECs) are protected under the Biodiversity Conservation Act. We can help identify these, or work with our arborists, so you do not inadvertently clear protected habitat and face significant legal penalties.
The 10/50 Bushfire Clearing Code permits tree clearing within set distances of buildings in Bushfire Prone Areas without a council permit. We cross-reference your property against NSW Rural Fire Service mapping to confirm whether these exemptions apply to your location.
Many rural properties in Lithgow and Bathurst fall under Allowable Activity exemptions for essential infrastructure such as boundary fences and internal tracks. These are subject to strict width limits and land zoning, which we can help you navigate before work begins.
