Project Description
Hillcrest Excavations was contracted by Quickway Constructions Pty Ltd. to assist with a critical slope restabilisation project for the RMS along Bells Line of Road in Mt Tomah. This project is crucial for ensuring the safety and stability of this important transport route, which serves both local commuters and tourists travelling through the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Hartley and Kurrajong regions.
Project Scope:
- Slope Stabilisation: Implemented state-of-the-art machinery and techniques to prevent erosion and landslides including tree removal, vegetation management, land sculpting and grade setting utilising specialised machines in the Botanic Gardens to allow grass seeding.
- Logistics and Materials: Material handling of mass stock piled materials, including the ethical disposal and handling responsibilities.
- Environmental Management: Ensured all activities complied with environmental regulations, minimising the impact on the surrounding natural habitat.
- Safety Measures: Prioritised the safety of our workforce and the public by implementing strict safety protocols and traffic management plans.
Challenges and Solutions:
- Challenging Terrain: The steep and rugged terrain of Mt Tomah required innovative solutions and specialised equipment to safely access and stabilise the slopes.
